HOMESTEAD, Fla. (June 16, 1999) With
capacity crowds and jam-packed hotels expected in Miami for the inaugural Pennzoil 400 at
Homestead-Miami Speedway Nov. 11-14, arrangements have been made for race fans to enjoy
the comfort of their own motorhomes close to the Speedway.
A limited number of weekend camping locations are now on sale for spaces at the
Homestead Sports Complex. For $250, spectators will have a reserved camping area, showers
and free shuttle service to and from the Speedway. Other amenities include a convenience
store, potable water, complimentary daily pump-out service, one complimentary copy of the
events souvenir program per spot and a daily copy of The Miami Herald. The area will
be well-lighted with 24-hour security.
Spaces are 15 by 50 feet, and are limited to self-contained recreational
vehicles. The area opens Wednesday, Nov. 10, at noon, and closes Monday, Nov. 15, at noon.
To help maintain a family atmosphere, spaces are available only to guests who have
purchased a minimum of two weekend tickets for Speedway activities.
Locations in the RV area may be reserved by calling the Speedway ticket office
at (305) 230-7223. Tickets are still available for the Nov. 11-14 weekend, which also
includes Saturdays Miami 300, the NASCAR Busch Series season finale. For additional
