 MIKE WALLACE (Team
ASE Racing Ford) Winner -- What's so cool is that all of the preparation this ASE team did
paid off. It's a huge relief (to get a win in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series).
We're the heroes for a week until Phoenix. But it seemed like forever at the
end with all of the cautions. It was a very competitive race. Barfield and Sprague
were coming on strong before they got into each other late on in the race.
MIKE STEFANIK (#66 Carlin Burners & Controls Ford) Second - We had a good truck. We
had great pit stops, and we had some luck which some others didn't. But hey, we've had
problems before and couldn't finish up front, so I'll take second.
STACY COMPTON ( #86 Royal Crown Cola Dodge) Third - It was a great race for us
fortunately. We got behind early but after that the guys with this Royal Crown Dodge made
some great calls. They got us in position everytime we came in and we ended up with a
third. We're still learning with this Dodge. We'll go to Phoenix and work on it a little
bit and see if we can get a win. I hate what happened to Randy (Tolsma, his teammate). It
looked like he had the strongest truck out there. I hope Randy's okay and I hope Jack's
okay. But this was a good run for us - a good run for Impact. It shows we can do this.
RON HORNADAY (# 16 NAPA Auto Parts Chevrolet) - You name it, we changed it out there, and
it still was not right. That's what happens, but we're learning. To come back with the pit
stops these guys had and with the good pit strategy, we led some laps and got some points,
and that's what it takes to win championships. |
