The following comment was received from
unhappy fan.
I am extremely disappointed with the
cancellation of the CART event. I understand that attendance has
been low, but there are reasons for this. First the race is not
promoted very well. There is virtually no advertisement in
Florida. CART needs to draw new fans since they have lost many due
to the CART-IRL split. A lack of promotion on the your part
prevents CART from developing a new fan base. The second main
reason was the change in the racing program. One year the Indy
Lights and the next the NASCAR trucks, and last race Atlantics.
Too confusing try a set lineup so fans can look forward to the
race weekend. Not allowing regular ticket holders to keep the same
seats throughout the weekend, this alone cost fans because the
year this was implemented the crowd was high because of the truck
race. Which I might add was a great addition to the program. I
have been attending the Miami races since the Tamiami track and
the one in Biscayne Bay, and all at Homestead.
If you believe you will increase you
attendance by bringing the IRL (Idiot Racing League) to your
venue, then you are deaf, dumb and blind. Look at how many tracks
have dumped the IRL, including Disney your neighbor. They had to
give tickets away free to get a crowd so they would not embarrass
themselves on their own TV network. I know this because I work
there. Just look at the IRL races, even the worst CART race drew
more fans than any two IRL races except Indy. Speaking of INDY
there was to be a 10 year waiting list for tickets, now they
cannot sell out the event. What does this say about the IRL.
I will be greatly disappointed not
attending your facility next year, but I will not waste my money
on the IRL. our seats on the start finish line will have a few new
faces, the eleven of us will be absent. Good luck!
Sincerely,
R. H.
