Ferrari Challenge To Visit
Homestead-Miami Speedway
HOMESTEAD (April 5, 2000) - The
Ferrari Challenge will be visiting Homestead-Miami Speedway this
weekend, running three races on the 2.21-mile road circuit. While
the event is open only to Ferrari Club of America members,
temporary memberships will be sold at the gate at $10 per day.
Saturday morning's schedule
features qualifying, beginning at 10 a.m., with a 30-minute race
set for 2:20 p.m. Sunday's on-track activities begin at 9 a.m.,
highlighted by a 30-minute Ferrari Challenge at 10:45 a.m. and a
one-hour endurance race at 2:20 p.m.
The Ferrari Challenge is
organized by Ferrari North America to provide owners of the
current Ferrari models to enjoy their cars in a competitive
environment. In 2000 the series will feature the new Ferrari 360
Modena as well as the Ferrari 355 which raced in 1999. All cars in
the Challenge have extensive safety modifications as well as
modified suspensions and brakes for racing, but the engines must
be left as supplied by Ferrari. The car must be owned by the
driver, and all preparation and maintenance must be accomplished
by authorized Ferrari dealers.
The Ferrari Challenge is now
sanctioned by the Grand American Road Racing Association, which
returns to Homestead-Miami Speedway May 5-7 for a full weekend of
competition.
